Mr. Sudhi K
Founder – IQSS
About the Founder
Mr. Sudhi K
Founder – IQSS
- Building Construction Cost Control, Tendering & Execution Specialist.
- Transforming Civil Engineers into Cost-Conscious Construction Professionals
- 30+ Years | Construction Industry Experience (Since 1991)
- 18+ Years | Professional Training Excellence (Since 2007)
The Institute of Quantity Surveyors (IQSS), established in 2007 in Kozhikode, was founded with a clear mission — to deliver practical, industry-aligned construction management training designed for Gulf and international career standards.
Behind IQSS stands Mr. Sudhi K, a construction professional shaped by real project responsibility, execution discipline, and cost control systems developed through decades of field exposure.
Professional Foundation (1991 Onwards)
Mr. Sudhi began his career in the early 1990s with the Kerala Water Authority (Vadakara Sub-Division), where he developed a strong technical base in:
- Project costing
- Estimation systems
- Measurement procedures
- Tender documentation
- This early exposure laid the foundation for his *lifelong focus on construction cost awareness and *financial discipline.
Entrepreneurial & Contracting Experience
Following his early technical foundation, Mr. Sudhi stepped into independent contracting and established Unique Construction, undertaking civil-related works across Kannur and Kasaragod districts.
During this entrepreneurial phase, he executed projects including institutional and commercial buildings, working directly with client representatives, consultants, subcontractors, and labor teams.
This period provided hands-on exposure to:
- Complete project execution responsibility
- Contractor-side budgeting and cost monitoring
- Site coordination & workforce management
- Material planning & procurement control
- Handling project cash flow pressures
- Managing profit margins under real field conditions
Unlike theoretical exposure, this stage required direct decision-making under financial risk — where every execution mistake could affect project profitability. Through managing live projects, he developed practical insight into:
- How cost overruns occur
- How planning gaps create site losses
- How execution errors impact billing
- How disciplined supervision protects margins
This contractor-level experience became a turning point in shaping his cost-conscious mindset — a principle that later formed the foundation of IQSS training programs.
Dubai Construction Growth Era (1996–2007)
From 1996 to 2007, during Dubai’s rapid construction expansion phase, Mr. Sudhi worked exclusively in the UAE building construction sector, gaining extensive exposure to large-scale project environments.
For over seven years, he worked under the leadership of Dr. Kanchanathu Varkey Abraham, Chairman of Abu Hail Contracting LLC, Dubai. This period provided structured experience within professionally managed high-rise and commercial building projects operating under international standards.
During this GCC tenure, he gained practical expertise in:
- Building construction execution systems
- Cost monitoring & profitability control
- Tender evaluation & bid preparation
- Project budgeting & financial tracking
- Coordination between consultants, contractors & subcontractors
- Quality control and time-bound project delivery
Working within Dubai’s highly competitive construction market sharpened his
understanding of one critical truth:
Profit in construction is protected not at billing stage, but at planning and cost control stage.
The exposure to disciplined management systems, financial accountability, and structured execution methodologies during this era became the cornerstone of the training philosophy later implemented at IQSS. This phase transformed practical field experience into strategic construction cost control expertise aligned with international project standards.
Training Philosophy Since 1996
Even before formally establishing IQSS in 2007, Mr. Sudhi was actively involved in guiding young professionals based on real project experience. His core belief is simple yet powerful:
Construction profitability is never accidental — it is the result of disciplined cost control, early risk identification, and execution clarity.
IQSS training is therefore built on one central principle — teaching professionals to anticipate where losses may occur and how to prevent them before they affect the project.
The Vision of IQSS
Founded in 2007, IQSS was created to bridge the gap between academic learning and real construction industry requirements.
Through IQSS, Mr. Sudhi has mentored 2100+ professionals, many of whom are now working across GCC countries in roles such as:
- Quantity Surveying
- Cost Control
- Billing & Certification
- Planning & Project Coordination
Today, IQSS stands as a practical construction management training platform built on real project exposure, financial discipline, and international standards — preparing civil engineers to become cost-conscious construction professionals ready for global opportunities.
My Commitment – Skills Acquired After Full Completion
At IQSS, our focus goes beyond theoretical knowledge. We develop practical financial clarity in building construction — the ability to understand a project not only technically, but commercially.
Upon successful completion of the program, you will develop:
- A clear and structured understanding of Cost Estimation
- Practical knowledge of Planning & Cost Control systems
- The ability to analyze project budgets with real execution awareness
- The skill to identify potential loss areas before project commencement
- The confidence to assess whether a project can be completed profitably before agreement signing
- The professional maturity to communicate financial risks and commercial realities clearly
- to management
Over the years, professionals who completed this structured training have progressed into responsible roles within the construction management field across India and GCC countries — particularly in Quantity Surveying, Cost Control, Billing, and Project Coordination functions.
Our objective is not merely to train quantity preparers. We train professionals capable of protecting project profitability and supporting management-level financial decisions.
